Steps for a Wireless Network that works:
- Don’t guess – design it
- Refer to item 1
Too many mistakes get made in wireless networking from not taking the time to plan your network correctly. Be it a Point to Point link, WiFi in your shop or a WAN for IoT devices.
Some vendors may make exaggerated claims about their products perfomance which can be misleading. We filter thorugh the marketing to develop real world installations that fit your requirements.
Specification and Scope:
It is important to ensure that the wireless design meets your operational criteria. We run through a series of questions and scenarios with you to make sure that your expectations are met for price and performance.
This can be done through a series of phone calls or face to face.
It is this specification and scope that will provide you with peace of mind that what you need is what you are going to get.
Site Inspections:
If your building exists we will perform an on site evaluation of the areas that require coverage to make sure we know what the walls, and other obstructions will be. We do this so that the predictive coverage design can take into account the affect these will have on the signal coverage and network performance.
If your building doesn’t exist yet, we will clarify with yourselves or the builder the construction of each wall to be incorporated into the predictive coverage design.
Predictive Coverage Design:
Where we take your building plans and, using advanced software, plan where the Access Points should be located based on wall construction, required data speeds and user density.
This forms the basis of the quotation and installation documentation. It is also used post installation to verify the success of the network design in meeting your criteria.
Line of Sight Analysis:
Where possible we will physically verify the line of sight visually.
Often over longer distances this is not possible if one end hasn’t been constructed yet so we will use Pathloss software and terrain data to predict the radio signal pathway taking into account the freznel zone requirements.
This is cross referenced with Google Earth to ensure all obstacles have been allowed for before progressing.
Post Installation Report:
After installation is complete we will provide you with a report detailing any relevant configuration information and the performance of the link/ network during handover.
This provides a reference point, incase in the future an issue arrises.
